You wouldnt think there would be much better barrel life but it is conciderably better. The 338 has less wind drift, more energy, longer life. Final loads in my 25' barreled edge were 94gr H-1000 with a 300 SMK and 96gr H-1000 with the 250 SMK for 2800 and 3000 fps. I did loose a little velocity as my nitrided barrel "broke" back in. These loads did apper to be max in my rifle., .338 Norma or Norma improved variant is what I would go for. Since it is a hunting rifle, you can easily run them as a repeater in a 3.850 mag with a 300 Berger and use all of the potential case capacity, not really doable with the Edge, though you can just jump a lot, out of a Wyatts 3.850" mag., Both with a 300 yard zero the 225 shoots 25, 33, and 43 inches flatter at 800, 900 and 1000 yards. Thats a bunch of clicks but in my case since I shoot mil dots the flat trajectory of the 225 allows me to get on target quickly without the use of clicks. Longest shot with the 225 was 914 yards on an elk.
