I just caught mine using AUX yesterday when it was 45 degrees outside. I turned off heat pump balance, set AUX lockout really low, and put compressor lockout on "always", and i haven't seen it use AUX since.

I've noticed that the expensive heat strips always seem to come on along with the heat pump after a while even though my Nest thermostat is on max savings mode and does not show the use of aux heat.
